The Norwich Opportunity Area was launched in 2017 by the government to raise education standards locally, providing every child and young person in the area with the chance to reach their full potential in life.

The programme ran for five years and was focused on improving speech and language, supporting local schools, and giving young people the information and support to move from education into work.

The funded Norwich Opportunity Area programme came to an end on 31st August 2022 and this website will no longer be updated but will remain online for information and to signpost schools and colleagues to support from elsewhere.

In March 2022 the Department for Education announced 24 Priority Areas with additional funding over the next 3 years of which Norwich is named as an area.  Further details about this new programme will be added to the What’s Next section of this website.

The final ‘What’s Changed’ impact report for the Norwich Opportunity Area programme was published in July 2022 and can be found here.

External evaluations of some of the key projects funded by NOA have been published here.

Legacy information describes how support for schools continues under each of our priorities here.
